Over the summer I read a book called The Inquisition by Taran Matharu. This book belongs to a series called The Summoner Trilogy. The next book comes out in May of next year. The story of this book was a continuation of The Novice. In the end of The Novice Fletcher, the main character, gets arrested by the Pinkertons, enforcers of the law(like police). They bring him back to his home town and he is put in jail for the attempted murder of Didric Cavell. The trial is long and tedious, but the results were that Fletcher was innocent. To his surprise, Rook, his old teacher from Vocans, came in and charged him with treason against the King. This trial reveals Fletcher's true origin when old King Alfric suggests that if he were truly of noble blood, that he would be immune to the sting of a certain demon. The he survives the full dose of poison he is given, the jury truly knows the story of Fletcher.
It turned out that Fletcher was indeed a noble, in fact he was the long lost child of the Raleigh's. Unfortunately, the Raleigh's died when a raid of Orcs was swarming in their empire. This is on the list of my favorite books, I love the way Matharu writes and I can't wait for book 3.
