Free Post

This Thanksgiving my mom, grandma, grandpa and I went over to a friend of my grandparents' house, as we do every year. Steve, one of the residents of the household, fries four massive turkeys for all twenty-six people. We arrived around 2:00 in the afternoon and stayed till 6:30. ate a variety of foods from the delicious turkey to mouthwatering sweet potatoes.

I was the only person there that was my age. Everyone there was in the 60-year-old range aside from my mother of course, and the few babies and toddlers. The owners of the house had three dogs that were named Henry, Sadie, and Suzy. After all of the food, we headed home to watch the LSU game. Overall, this thanksgiving was the same as the past few years, but it was still a great thanksgiving.

How to Digest Food Faster

To digest food faster you must first, make sure you are regularly exercising. This will keep the food moving through the digestive system. The overall effect will speed up the movement of the food and help the digestive process. The next step is to get a significant amount of rest.  Sleep gives the digestive organs the time they need to rest and repair, which increases their ability to digest food fast and efficiently.

You also need to drink a lot of fluids. Drinking fluids, especially tea or water, while or after eating helps with digestion. Fluids overall help your body break down food, and water can help by hydrating you as well. Lastly, you need to start eating high-fiber foods. Fiber-rich foods help digestion in many ways. Eating these types of foods can speed digestion by reducing constipation and maintaining general bowel health.

This Easter

This Easter my family is planning to go to Italy for Easter break. We plan to go to Venice, Florence, and obviously Rome. This will be the first time I will be in Italy. I have made a trip to France and Belgium the Easter before last. This year I will be spending my birthday in Italy. We will be going to see all of the museums, artifacts, famous paintings, and architecture we can in the short two weeks.

We will be taking a plane ride to Atlanta and then an eight-hour plane ride to Italy. Last time we watched movies on the built-in screens in the seats in front of us. I plan to do the same thing because I am not really able to sleep anywhere other than a bed. Overall I can't wait for our trip and I look forward to it every day.

Critical Scene From LOTF

One critical scene in LOTF is the scene where Simon is injured and imagining the pig head on the stick talking to him. In this scene, you should take notice that he isn't actually having a conversation, it's all in his head. This scene is very important to the novel because it truly shows how they need to get off this island and back home.

In this scene the Simon imagines the pig head saying that he was the beast and the Lord of the Flies, and this was the first mention of this throughout the whole book. Later on in this scene, Simon dies but nobody grieves his death.

Make Your Own Prompt

Prompt: If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go? Explain what you would do here and why you chose this specific place.

Response: If I could go anywhere in the world it would be to Japan. I would like to go to Japan because I am a huge fan of their type of cuisine and their culture. With all of the new innovations in Japan, I would love to see it in action. On top of that, there are some very beautiful buildings and museums here which I would really enjoy. There is something about the Japanese culture that intrigues me very much.

While I am in Japan I would like to go the Hiroshima peace memorial, the Jigokudani Monkey Park, and the Kiyomizu-Dera. All of these landmarks attract me. I would enjoy this trip very much, but only if I could bring my mother and grandparents along. I hope to one day travel to Japan and see their wonderful culture and taste their wonderful cuisine.

Q2-Week 4 LOTF Response

[Piggy:] "I don't agree with all Jack said, but with some.  'Course there isn't a beast in the forest.  How could there be?  What would a beast eat?"
"Pig."
"We eat pig."
"Piggy!"
"I got the conch!" said Piggy indignantly.  "Ralph--they ought to shut up, oughtn't they?  You shut up, you littluns!  What I mean is that I don't agree about this here fear.  Of course there isn't nothing to be afraid of in the forest.  Why--I been there myself!  You'll be talking about ghosts and such things next.  We know what goes on and if there's something wrong, there's someone to put it right."
He took off his glasses and blinked at them.  The sun had gone as if the light had been turned off. [...]
"Life," said Piggy expansively, "is scientific, that's what it is.  In a year or two when the war's over they'll be traveling to Mars and back.  I know there isn't no beast--not with claws and all that, I mean--but I know there isn't no fear either."
Piggy paused.
"Unless--"
Ralph moved restlessly.
"Unless what?"
"Unless we get frightened of people." (83-84)

In this passage, they are talking about the beast and whether or not they believe it exists. They argue over the importance of the conch. They discuss the danger of the forest and their knowledge of it. Piggy makes a statement about Mars that is futuristic for their time period and he does not realize that this may take a lot longer than he thinks. He uses this statement to make the people think this could not be possible to back his thoughts of the beast.

After this statement, Ralph also says something that could very well be a possibility, being afraid of people. By making this statement I think that he fears the breaking of trust in the small community they have established and wishes that there be no fighting. He probably feels that there could be some ighting among themselves which would lead to fear in the community of their own people. This would only lead to the destruction of their small sort of government.
