Reading Response

In Lord of the Flies by William Golding, a group of kids had crash landed on a mysterious island and Ralph has decided to take the role of chief over the kids. When they finally came up with an idea to make a fire, they ended up making a huge bonfire, using almost all of their fuel. In the process, a child was lost. When they finally established hunters they sent Jack out and he caught a pig.

Human Nature

I believe that human nature is the feelings that we experience in our life. These feelings are shared between all in our human race. Human nature has been this way for all of history and will probably never change. Human nature defines us as an overall people, no matter the race or religion. Human nature is not specifically positive or negative, you decide the way you function.
Human nature is also the behavioral traits of us or the way we choose to behave. We are in total control of the way we behave. Each choice, good or bad, defines us and sets a path for our future. We decide the path ahead.

Fall Free Post

In upcoming April my family is taking a trip to Italy. My Grandpa has a job as an editor for a chemistry magazine called Les Nouvelles. This job allows him to travel around the world on all expenses paid trips. I went with him to Paris last April and it was my first time out of the continent.

This trip his meeting is also in Paris but we are planning on flying to Italy and staying there for the majority of the trip, and then riding on a train to Paris and staying for the remainder of our trip. I hope to see many historical landmarks while I'm in the country. I can't wait until we finally take the trip.

Reading Response

I am reading Michael Vey Fall of Hades by Richard Paul Evans. This is the continuation of Storm of Lightning. In this story, the Electroclan and the resistance are going on a mission to take the money off of the Joule, the most mysterious ship in the Elgen fleet. Their goal is to ally with the Electric Youths to take Hatch down.

Response To Should We Abandon Louisiana? In some ways, we already have.

I read the article called "Should We Abandon Louisiana? In some ways, we already have" by Zack Kopplin. Zach Kopplin talks about how the media isn't covering the flood. Kopplin says that the disaster wasn't enough of a selling point-its the media conspiracy that gets people to a car. I somewhat agree with that statement, the media won't cover it unless it is seen as a threat to the people. The media thrived off of creeping out Americans and getting people worried about anything that is not even a threat. The media made their money off of commercials and as more viewers you have, the more money they charge. It doesn't matter what the topic is, just as long as people are watching, and the name of the media company doesn't have a bad reputation. Quite a lot of the media coverage originated in local stations. The conglomerates will pay for the videos from the local news, and use 12 seconds of it just to fill in a space that was empty. Media coverage brought help and financial aid to areas that have been affected by disasters. This article is also in first person.

Remaking most of the homes affected by the flood is a big job. It will be a few years before most of the houses are indeed rebuilt. A few homes have already been fixed, but many homes have not. I think that we, as a community, should rebuild these homes because the legacy of the past is still here, and the U.S. has never abandoned an entire state before, and I hope they don't plan to. If we end up abandoning Louisiana, it will be a place for disease to manifest and the wildlife will most likely be hurt. There are a lot of fossil fuels that are in Louisiana, and many are economically valuable to the United States' needs. Nuclear power plants in Louisiana might explode and contaminate other areas of the country. Rebuilding the homes now would be the better decision, and it would be much better for the future generations to live and prosper in Louisiana.

Free post - Week 6

I go to a camp called Camp Coleman in Cleveland, GA. I have been going for about three years and next year will be my last year as a camper. It lasts for about three and a half weeks. I have already made friendships that I think will last a lifetime. This camp is a union reform Judaism camp and every year that I've gone so far I felt accepted and equal to everyone else.

Here at an Episcopalian school, the religious majority is Christianity so I don't feel the same way around my friends here. There is a big difference between friends at camp and friends at school. With people at Camp, because you live with them for almost a month and learn who they really are and how they act both behind the scenes and out in public. When you are with them twenty-four seven you grow a stronger bond than just going to school and spending time with them during the day.

Reading Response - Week 6

The book I am reading is Michael Vey Storm of Lightning by Richard Paul Evans. Right now Michael and the Electroclan are planning to go on a mission to get Hatch's electric youths on their side. Tara and Torstyn are sentenced to death and Kylee is tied up ready for questioning. Hatch has special plans for Quentin and Bryan is the only one of them still thought of as loyal. Quentin is going to suffer the same fate as the former Prime Minister and be locked in a monkey cage.

The chairman of the board of the resistance hopes that the Electroclan can get aboard the Joule, the most mysterious and secretive boat of the Elgen fleet, to get the money off and hold that against the Elgen. They also plan to rescue the electric youths and hope to gain new allies for the war against Hatch. If they gain these very much needed allies they will have a strong advantage over Hatch. With both the electric youths and the Electroclan united against Hatch and the Elgen the resistance might be able to win the war once and for all. The Voice is still aiding them in what is happening with the Elgen, but his identity is still unknown to the resistance.
